Come join us for a half-day learning the basics of setting up and starting a new garden. This is a pre-cursor to our 'Plant-a-Garden’ workshop if you don't already have a garden. Maybe you have tried gardening in the past and nothing grew or maybe you just aren't quite sure where to start - we believe we all have the ability to grow even the basics in an organic, nourishing way.

Having a healthy garden first and foremost is about looking after and building the soil life, the gift from doing that is nourishing kai.

Plant-a Garden Workshop

Come and join Tess in this follow-up workshop from the Begin-a Garden workshop earlier in the year where we learnt about site analysis, the importance of soil and how to re-mineralise it, starting a new garden bed, cover crops etc.

It is now time to get planting! In this workshop we will cover all the essentials to get your Summer garden growing from planting seeds, growing healthy seedlings, transplanting them in the garden, crop rotation, companion planting, pest control and MUCH more.

We will also look at ways to ensure you always have vegetables in your garden to feed you and your whanau (family). Get ready to be addicted to the beauty of gardening as you grow your skills in an environment that encourages questions and dialogue.

Maybe you have tried in the past and nothing grew or maybe you just aren't quite sure where to start - we believe we all have the ability to grow even the basics in an organic, nourishing way.

Having a healthy garden first and foremost is about looking after and building the soil life, the gift from doing that is nourishing kai. This will be a hands on workshop where you get to see and experience how to start a new garden bed with different techniques, how to prepare the soil for success, how to plant seedlings and how to nurture them in the soil till harvest time.

It is a great idea to get your garden started this Autumn so come Spring you have your beds dug, you have added fertility, you've created your plan and you are ready for a banging Summer garden.
