  • Forksta™ Finetill

Take your garden bed prep to the next level.

If you're looking for a tool to fine-tune your garden beds that have already been worked, the Forksta Finetill is your ideal choice.  With its additional tines closer together, the Forksta Finetill creates a finer tilth, which is ideal for bed preparation and beds that need more detailed, targeted aeration. It’s perfect for ensuring optimal drainage, and getting air deep into your garden beds just before planting.

Handcrafted in our workshop, New Zealand.

    Description

The Forksta Finetill a great tool for creating the perfect environment for young seedlings and ensuring your soil is ready for planting.

Soil is our number one priority in the garden and soil needs oxygen. Plants pull water from the roots up to the leaves using a process that relies on oxygen being present in the soil. Microorganisms also need it to transform organic matter into nutrients.

Our Forksta tools are carefully designed to aerate the soil—not turn it over. The sharp, tapered tines are shaped to glide into the ground and gently lift, creating air and water pathways while leaving the soil’s living structure intact. No flipping. Just opening it up to breathe.

    FAQ

Q: How is the Forksta different from other garden forks?
A: The Forksta is built tough, and built to last. The tines are perfectly angled and spaced to reduce effort, making it easier to penetrate the soil and, plus it is ergonomically designed for your body, so you are using your body weight to do the work.

Q: Can you use the Forksta in a no-dig garden bed?
A: Yes, the Forksta allows you to loosen the top layer of soil while preserving the structure of your no-dig bed. It's perfect for aerating the soil and managing weeds without disrupting the vital microoganisms and organic matter beneath.

Q: Is the Forksta suitable for compacted or clay soils.
Aa: Yes! The Forksta is designed with sturdy sharp ends on the tines that cut through compacted soils, the wide foot bar makes it easy to jump on the fork to get the tines in and then lever the bar back gently. If you have a heavy clay soil, it may take a while to get the tines right down into the soil, start slow, even just getting the tines in 10cm to begin with. Then you can get some air and organic matter in and over time you will be loosening the soil naturally.
You do need to keep an eye out for rocky soils though and go slow.
